Discovering Shade City!

Hi there! I thought I’d give everyone a whirlwind tour of one of the parts of Blue Mars I hadn’t had a chance to explore much yet. I was going to make a video of another area, but I figured I’d hold off on it until I got my sound card stuff working properly.

This post will be exploring Shade City and one or two parts of the game that I stumbled upon while exploring. I’d seen them before, but figured you guys might not have. I’ll give a quick run down of the area and then add a flikr slideshow to the bottom, so you guys can get a better look at the area without me bogging everyone down with large images! There are one or two interesting ones that I’d like to specifically share though.

When you bring your camera up from the water, you get droplets running off it.

The night effects in this city seem to kick in when you go above a certain height. When I went downstairs, it was daytime again.

I got excited when I saw this bike, assuming I might be able to ride it. Instead it brings up a detailed model view, similar to the ones that you can bring up in the shops. Purchasable, perhaps? (Detailed shots in the Flikr slideshow at the bottom!)
